FREAKIN GAME OF 'PHONES! ♪
Hi there, I'm Roberto. Hope you guys are doing well.
It's that time of the year again. The Consumer Electronics Show, more commonly
known as CES, starts in Las Vegas this week. I used to pronounce it as "ces".
Good thing the weather in Vegas this time of the year isn't good enough for pool time,
as nobody wants to be part of a ces-pool! But I digress.
I'm going to give you my Top 5 reasons for why being at CES sucks.
Number five: It's way too early in the year! And is it just me, or is CES starting earlier
each year? It seems like in a couple of years we'll be
saying something like... Two... One... Happy New Year!!! Ooh look,
another 8K TV! Number four: It's a tech battlefield!
Charging your devices is more important than setting your alarm clock.
Oh, so your camera's battery is dead? That's what you get for waking up in Vegas,
without charging your devices overnight. Even if you charged your devices, you have
to carry one of those ammunition belts, Rambo-style. But instead of bullets you have to carry spare
batteries there. If you don't, you phone, your camera, your
tablet, your laptop and your other gadgets won't last long enough to get the job done.
Number three: You have to wrestle for communication. Okay, the place is so packed with people that
you might end up wrestling in a more literal sense, if you are not careful.
But what I mean is that so many people will be posting to blogs and social media, that
you'll have to wrestle for a working data connection so you can post.
Number two: You shed tears as you see those awesome gadgets being announced, without a
price or an actual release date. Sometimes the products are announced and not
released until eight or ten months later! All that wait can eat us alive!
And the number one reason: the gambling temptation. Come on, it's Vegas; there are casinos everywhere.
And it's hard to resist the temptation of gambling your life savings away, just so you
can afford the stuff you are going to see announced at CES!
And those are my Top 5 reasons for why being at CES sucks, even though I would've loved
to be there! In all seriousness, I'm excited to see what
happens at CES this year. Last year the 4K TVs were the stars of the
show and I think we are going to see more of those this year, but I think smart watches
are going to be the ones stealing the show in CES 2014.
I'm not that interested in the cars though, Come on! It's the Consumer Electronics Show,
not the Consumer Auto Show! But I need a new phone, I also want a new
camera and a microphone to go along with it, plus I also want to see some cool tech toys
so I'll definitely be checking out the coverage. But what about you?
Are you excited or interested in anything in particular from CES this year?
