How a baby lion and a tortoise sang a song
There once lived a baby lion in Africa. His name was...
- Rrrr-meow.
That's right, his name was "Rrrr-meow."
One time, he went for a stroll in the desert, and there he met...
- A biiiiiig tortoise!
The tortoise was lying in the sunshine and humming a merry little song.
Can you hear it?
- I am lying in the sun.
And I'm having lots of fun.
Lots of fun in the sun.
And the fun has just begun.
- What a cute little song. I'm going to get a bit closer.
And he did get a little closer, but the tortoise did not notice him
because she was singing with her eyes closed tight with pleasure.
- A giraffe-raffe-raffe is tall
Crocodile-dile-dile can crawl
Only I'm having fun
As I'm lying in the sun.
Baby Lion crawled right next to the tortoise and curled up in the sand.
Then he raised one of his ears.
- Yes, that's so I can hear better.
- There's a lion lying near
And he's playing with his ear
Only I'm having fun
As I'm lying in the sun.
The tortoise finished her song and opened her eyes.
- Good afternoon. I'm Big Tortoise.
And who are you?
- Me, I'm Baby Lion, Rrrr-Meow.
I really like your little song.
- I am sitting in the sun
I am having lots of fun
Lots of fun in the sun
And the fun has just begun.
- It should be "lying," not "sitting."
- You're the one lying. I'm sitting.
- A giraffe-raffe-raffe is tall
Crocodile-dile-dile can crawl
Only I'm having fun
As I'm sitting in the sun.
- And yet, you should sing "lying," since I'm the one who wrote the song.
- How can I sing "lying" if I'm sitting?
- Then lie down and all will be right.
You will be lying down and singing.
Like so: "I am lying in the sun."
- But I don't like lying down, I like running.
At the very least sitting.
- But you were lying down when you crawled toward me.
- I only did that so I could listen to the song.
I only lie down on special occasions.
- How do you sleep then? Sitting up?
- No.
No, I sleep lying down.
But when I sleep I don't sing, right?
- Just pretend that you're sleeping and singing at the same time.
- I'll try.
Let's start from the very top!
Aaaaaand go!
- I am lying in the sun
And I'm having lots of fun
Lots of fun in the sun
And the fun has just begun.
- It's still not right, because I sleep with my eyes closed.
And that means I can't see the sun.
- Then open your eyes and pretend that you sleep with your eyes open and sing.
- All right, I'll try.
Aaaaaand go!
- A giraffe-raffe-raffe is tall
Crocodile-dile-dile can crawl
Only I'm having fun
As I'm lying in the sun.
- Now you sing alone, because I can't sing about myself.
- There's a lion lying near
And he's playing with his ear
Only I'm having fun
As I'm lying in the sun.
- Wow, that's a very nice song.
Wonderful, just wonderful song!
And now can we play horsies?
When it got dark, they parted.
- Good bye, my dear Big Tortoise!
Will you... will you come up with a new song tomorrow?
- Of course. Come by tomorrow.
- Okay.
See you tomorrow!
- A giraffe-raffe-raffe is tall.
Crocodile-dile-dile can crawl.
As he walked, he kept on wondering.
- How can you sleep with your eyes open,
and even sing a song at the same time?
I don't get it.
Only I'm sitting down...
Oops, I mean...
Only I'm having fun
As I'm lying in the sun.
The end.
