Chris wants to know what are the differences between public
schools and private schools. I think this is an excellent question that a lot of
high school students have so let's watch the video then I will explain to you
guys
My name is Chris and one of the things I would like to know is
the differences between a public college and a private college, i mean generally
private cost is more than public, but i ask you guys what you guys think the
differences
Okay so public universities are usually funded by the state and the
reason why they are subsidized by the state
is to keep the tuition cost low. Now lately because of budget cuts, the
tuition has not remained low it's actually increased significantly. In a
lot of states, public
university tuition is pretty compare to private university
tuition which is very unfortunate. However you also have to keep in mind
that when a universities being subsidized by the state they have to be
here to certain rules whereas a public university gets the play by its own
rules in a lot of cases, is not completely
so i think that's the best distinction to make. Do you have
anything to add. I don't really agree to your second point yeah so at a private
college they've a lot more control over the sorts of groups to get formed
you know what does your free speech count for, private colleges is a lot
more constrained as a public school
so that's what the major thing. So for instance at some public colleges
if you want to create like a christian group, right, if that christian
group discriminates against non-christians
it might not be recognized as an official uh... organization within the
university or it might not get any funding from the university. However at a
private university
sure that might happen. Might be encouraged. It might be encouraged so
you might want to look into the different policies that a private
university has versus the public university
and then you might make a decision on where to go based on that alone but also
keep in mind that in most cases public universities are supposed to be cheaper,
but that's not always the case. Do your research.
