Archiving your Blackboard Course
Log into Blackboard and look for the course you wish to archive under My Courses.
Click on the course link to enter.
Find the Control Panel on the left side of your screen.
Click on the double drop-down arrow next to the Packages and Utilities link to expand
this area down.
Click on the Export Archive course link and click on the Archive button.
DO NOT CLICK THE EXPORT BUTTON!
On the next screen, check the checkbox titled "Include Grade Center History".
The Manage Package Contents button will give you options for removing items from your course
archive package.
This step is optional and can be skipped unless you need to reduce the size of your course
to import it.
Click the Submit button.
After clicking Submit, you will see the green bar stating that an automated email will be
sent to your Lincoln Land email when the process is complete.
Please note this process may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours to complete
depending on the size of your course.
Minimize the browser window which contains Blackboard.
Log in to your Lincoln Land email and look for the confirmation email from
the Blackboard Administrator that contains the subject "Archive" with your Course ID.
Glance at the email for confirmation that the archive operation has completed.
Return back to the browser window containing Blackboard.
Click on the Export Archive course link in the Control Panel again to return to the Export
Archive course screen.
Locate the course that was just archived.
The archive course package will be listed under the file name section.
The archived course will contain the Course ID, followed by a string of characters ending
with a .zip suffix.
Right-click on the archive course link to open the window options and choose "Save Target
As...".
If you're on a Mac, simply click on the archive link.
Because of how the Mac OS handles compressed files, the .zip file you need will be
located in the trash.
Open up the trash and move the .zip archive file to your desktop or location of your choice.
Ignore the next two steps.
Save the file to the desktop or another location on your computer where it can easily be retrieved
later.
After downloading is complete, click the Close button on the Download Complete dialog box.
Your archive file should be on your desktop or wherever you saved it on your computer
before.
You have now successfully archived your Blackboard course.
