Hello and welcome to the CA ARCserve D2D How To Video Series This is Perform ad-hoc backups
Now that you've got D2D managing your backup jobs according to the schedule you specified, you're probably wondering how to perform unscheduled backups immediately. For example, before upgrading hardware or patching an operating system.
You can perform ad hoc backups any time. Just click Backup Now from the task bar or system tray monitor.
The run a backup now dialog opens.
Select the backup type you want to perform. You can choose incremental backup to back up only data blocks that have changed since your last backup, Verify backup to compare the most recent backup data to the source and ensure its consistency,
or a full backup to back up the entire system. If you choose verify backup, D2D resynchronizes data that does not match the source.
Provide a backup name if you wish. If you don't specify a name, D2D automatically appends the backup type with the word 'customized' such as customized full backup.
Click OK to submit the job.
D2D confirms the job was successfully submitted and runs it immediately if no scheduled job is already running. If it is, D2D requests that you try again later.
Watch the job monitor for job progress. One point to note. If an ad hoc job fails, no make up job is created. Make up jobs are created only for scheduled jobs that fail.
Thanks for watching. Please view the remaining videos in the series, posted at YouTube, or visit the website for more information on using CA ARCserve D2D.
