Hi everybody! My name is Matt and I’m the Social Media Manager here at Volusion. Welcome
to Two Minute Tuesdays, where we give you two minutes of ecommerce advice to bolster
your online success. In a world where flash deals, daily deals,
Living Social and Groupon are all the rage, it’s really important that you leverage
this functionality on your own. To do so, you need to make sure that you have a daily
deal page on your website that looks great. With that in mind, here’s my how-to guide
to design a daily deal page stands out from the crowd.
First and foremost, as is the case with any type of design, you need to keep your branding
consistent. Keep in mind that customers, or even new customers, could be coming to this
page without ever seeing your homepage, so you want to make sure that consistent branding
is there. Pay attention to specific elements like color, typography and things of that
sort, and you’ll be in good shape. Secondly, you want to use a high-quality product
photo. Of course, you should always be using high-quality product photos, but keep in mind
that you’ll be drawing a lot of attention to this product through your daily deal, so
make that photo shine. Third, make your call-to-action, or your CTA
button, stand out. Whether it says “add to cart” or “buy now,” include color
contrasts between that button and the background of the page. This will help drive your customers’
eyeballs to the right place so they’ll want to click.
Fourthly, this isn’t exactly visual design, but it’s still really important for you
to focus on captivating copy. With daily deals, you have a little more freedom to use hyperbolic
language, so words like “awesome” or “must-have” really can be useful to help drive excitement
to that deal. Last, but not least, make sure that you keep
it fresh. If you have the same daily deal on your page for an entire month, you’re
not creating any buzz or excitement to entice customers to come back to this page, so make
sure that you swap them out, keep your promotions up and you’ll be just fine.
Hopefully this how-to guide to design your daily deal page will truly move the needle
and boost your sales and customer excitement. If you have any questions we’re always happy
to help. From me to you, happy selling!
