What is a half step above G? It is A flat or G sharp so we are going to take an A flat
scale because really you are just going to think of that as being the A flat major scale
but you are going to start on G. You are starting on the seventh and you are going up to the
next G. Four flats, B, E, A, and D and the rest are going to be natural.
Incidentally it is really good to have good handle on your major scale for obvious reasons.
The more a scale is a feeling of a pattern under your fingers the easier you are going
to be able to pull off stuff like this. That is the beauty of practicing slowly to achieve
a faster means gradually.
