How to Dance K Pop Style 2008

Are you a teacher in Korea? Are you confused by your Korean students? Do you wonder why sometimes they laugh when you say something like, "ok"? Or why sometimes they do weird dance-like gestures with their hands? Well, worry no more. They're not crazy, well... ...maybe some of them are. You, my friend, are just out of the loop. Coming in at #8 is Jewelry's "One More Time" [music] How is it used in the classroom? "Sorry, Yeon Suk, I didn't hear you. Can you say that again..." One more tiiiIIiime One moooore tiiiiIIiiimmee! Dammit! Watch a pro! This is how it's done Hey class! We're gonna play this game again, One more tiiiiIIIiiiime! Ohhhh yeah! [yeah! You just have practice!] Coming it at #7 is DBSK. They're also known as TVXQ, And in Korean it's "***-***-Shing-Gee" And their newest single is Mirotic [music] The most popular part of the song is the rap sequence [more music] And there's a really famous English line that all my students like [music] Coming it at #6 is Rain's "Rainism" [music] Now, this song has two very popular moves The first one, doesn't really make any sense [music] And the second one will drive all the girls wild [music] Here we go... ...how's it go again [music] ... ...so raunchy! Sexy! We should try that again [music] Coming it at #5 is Uhm Jung Hwa's "Disco Song" [music] mee meep, me mee, meep meep mee me mee [music] The main verse of the song spells out the word "disco" using funky hand movements [music] And while the word "disco" doesn't come up often in my classroom, my students will break out for no reason sometimes and do the dance [music] Here we go... D D D I S S S S S C O D D D I S S S S S C O there you go Not to mention...TOP from Big *** is featured in the song [music] [awkward silence] How sexy is that move... ...my eyebrow cramped...ARRRGGHH! [music] Coming it at #4 is Big ***'s "I'm so sorry but I love you" [music] Now this song doesn't have so much a dance as a common quote used in class If anyone in your class says "I'm so sorry" I guarantee you another student is going to say "I love you. It's all I gotta say" So beat them to the punch, next time they apologize, you tell them that you love them. [music] And you'll be cool [music] Coming it at #3 is Wondergirls with "Nobody but You" [music] You'd be shocked at the amount of times in my class that somehow the phrase "nobody, nobody but you" arises and they always break out into the same dance [music] There you go. Coming in at #2 is another Wondergirls song It came out in the summer: So Hot! [music] Now, So Hot has a very easy dance move [music] It comes up many times in my class [music] Ohhh, it's so hot in here Ohhh, nice dress teacher. Thanks! Coming it at number 1 is Lee Hyori with Yugo Girl [music] Even though the main part of the song is actually "You Go Girl" The most followed part of the song is when Hyori goes "Ok" [music] So this has caused my students to do the same face movement and the same arm movement and the same giggle and the same smile every time they hear the word [music] While there are many kpop songs to choose from we hope that this small selection has helped make you a cooler person with your students.
