Papillons are wonderful little dogs who love attention, exercise, and playing. New papillon
owners may not have all the information they need to care for their dogs. This article
gives tips on how to care for your papillon dog.
Take your papillon home.. Let it out of its carrier, and take it for
a 15-30 minute walk. Feed your papillon twice a day, in the morning
and in the evening.. Give it a quarter cup of food each time.
Take your dog for a walk in the morning after breakfast for 15 minutes..
Take your dog for a walk at lunch (or get a dog walker to come) for 20-30 minutes. Walk
your dog for 15-20 minutes around 3-4 pm, (or get a dog walker again). Again, walk your
dog for around 20 minutes after dinner. Keep the papillon in its crate during the
day if you are at school/work, or if you are home keep it out with you..
Papillons love to be with their masters. Take your dog outside to go to the bathroom..
Do this in the morning right after getting up, right before you leave for work, and right
before bed. Each time you should either let the dog into your backyard, or take it for
a 2-5 minute walk. Train your dog..
Papillons are great at obedience training, mostly because they love to please you. If
your dog is food motivated, give it treats. If not, use a clicker or use vocal praise
and petting. A papillon can easily learn to sit, stay, and fetch, and with practice can
be taught more difficult tricks. Keep a bowl of fresh water by your dog's food
bowl always.. Also keep a bowl of fresh water in your dog's
crate at all times. Take your dog to their water bowl after a walk. Keeping hydrated
is very important. Play with your dog..
Papillons love mental stimulation, so play ball, tag, tug of war, fetch, or any other
game you might think your dog would like. Make sure you are the alpha (top dog) in the
house.. To do this, make sure you go through doors
and go up stairs before your dog. Eat your breakfast and dinner before you feed your
dog. Don't let the dog on furniture, especially on the bed. Train your dog not to bark.
Love your little dog.. Papillons are gentle and lovable creatures,
who love their masters and just want to be loved back. As long as you follow the previous
steps while loving your dog a whole lot, you will have a wonderful and playful companion.
Thank you for watching!
