This is the new Jeep renegade. Now you can think of it as a baby Cherokee to rival the
Nissan Juke. It's actually based on the Fiat 500L's platform - in fact fiat will have its
own version called the 500X -- however the Renegade has all the classic jeep design cues.
According to Jeep, the Renegade mixes off-road cues, such as a 'mud-spatter' design around
the instrument cluster, with quality, soft-touch materials in a combination it calls 'Tek-Tonic'.
The reality -- well take (what I think).... Still I quite like the seven-inch touch screen,
but they are becoming pretty common now.
In the back the renegade is decent room, if you want more head room these roof panels
can be removed to make the Renegade like a convertible. As for the boot is big enough
though that on the Vauxhall Mokka is slightly bigger.
Okay, let's talk engines. They all come from Fiat and include a 1.4-litre turbo petrol,
and a 1,6 and 2.0-litre diesel. There will be three transmissions -- a manual, a six-speed
dual clutch transmission and a 9 speed auto. Two and all wheel drive version will be offered.
This trail-tested badge means this is the trailhawk model, which means it's better off
road than the standard car. It has slightly different bumpers for steeper approach angles
and a low ratio mode too for more controlled hill descents. So this thing could be great
fun off road.
