It's the season for holiday parties, leftovers and makeovers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture
has advice on making this time of year a bit easier and healthier. This is a time in which
you want to enjoy friends, you want to enjoy families, you want to be healthy, you want
to do the things that are going to be as stress free as they possibly can, so that you yourself
can be happy this holiday. And USDA's choose my plate dot gov website has advice on meal
planning with healthy, low fat and low sodium recipes.
Choose my plate dot gov does give you a supertracker tool that's let's you put in the information
that you have, on what you're going to serve. It will tell you what the nutrient values
are and then you can make some decisions as do i want to do this or do i want to do that?
And when the parties are over, you can also find advice on how to use that extra food.
How to make the meal stretch beyond just that one day. How do you use leftovers? What is
the opportunity to do makeovers with some of the leftovers that you have? It provides
a wealth of information for makeovers, and also for extending those meals that you have
into another week or two. For advice on meal planning and other health tips go to choose
my plate dot gov. In Washington D.C. for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, I'm Bob Ellison.
