As we mentioned earlier, the Ancient Chinese named the 5 elements
as 5 phases of energy long before applying them to real world objects
Therefore, when we define metal, we are not referring specifically to silver or gold
but to all metals, minerals, crystals, or rocks as found within the earth
"jin", or the energy of metal
characterizes movement that spirals forward towards a point like a bullet
It's energy is also falling downwards
similar to the trajectory of a bullet as it looses momentum
The Metal element's shape is circular
and it's direction is west because it is the direction of the setting sun
As for human characteristics, the Metal element represents
identifying and targeting ones goals
as well as achievement, protectiveness, perfectionism, a desire for quality, letting go and grief
