Alright, so today we are doing a game of Passport tag, which has been going around YouTube.
Here are our Canadian passports and mine is a little bit thicker than yours. Okay, I think
this game isn't going to be very fair because I just got my passport about three months
ago and it is just a brand new baby and Sam has had his for years and his has 48 pages.
Yeah, you can literally see here 48 pages and the reason I got 48 page passport was
because the last one, which was only 24 pages, I filled it up really quick, so I knew I needed
a bigger passport, so I got a 48 page this one. Unfortunately, there is a new policy
and they no longer make 48 pages, so Audrey's new passport is the new amount of pages you
can get. How many is yours? 34! It's better than 24. Nope 34.
Okay, so first question we're going to start with is what is your most recent stamp? Well,
for this one we're going to have the same answer because we travel together, so our
most recent one was a Visa run to Myanmar, so that we could stay in Thailand. So our
stamp coming back to Thailand that's from - when did we come back? December 19th. Just
a few days ago. And normally these kind of Visa runs are uneventful but we met the craziest
guy on the van. What was he doing? He basically drank the whole way up to the border and this
is a four hour drive and he was sticking his head out the window pretending to be a dog.
Like a dog! Like this! Then he was pretending to shoot passing vehicles. Yeah, like if you
can imagine. He just rolled down the window when the vehicle had stopped and was going
like this, "***. ***. ***. ***." He was absolutely bonkers. This guy was like totally
insane and we had to travel with him the whole time and I don't know how but everyone kind
of on board just kind of put up with him. They kind of tolerated him but he was crazy.
Okay, next question is first stamp. What is the first stamp in your passport? Oh, my first
stamp. My first stamp in any passport was roughly almost ten years ago. Can you guess
where it was? Korea? No, close to Korea. Just tell us! Okay, hahaha. It was in Japan. I
had a very short stopover in Japan and this was actually before I had even finished University.
I was going to Korea and Japan to see if I wanted to teach English after afterwards and
as luck would have it I had a wonderful time there and I've been teaching English and traveling
overseas ever since. Okay, so show us your Japan stamp? Well, it's obviously not in this
one. It's three passports old. Sam! Your question is about this passport! hahaha Well, it doesn't
matter. You need to show us stamps. So I just realized that I'm actually supposed to be
showing you stamps from here but I wanted to talk about the first country I ever traveled
to overseas and got a stamp, so I'm making a big exception. Audrey is going to do it
legit. What is your first stamp? Okay, so my first stamp in this very new passport would
be coming back to Thailand, so I was in Canada over the summer visiting my family and I came
back to Thailand on August 28th as you can see over here. The blue one.
The next questions is what is your coolest looking stamp? My coolest looking stamp, I
would have to say is the one from Laos. It's got a lot of cool intriciate little artwork
and designery and different colors and Laos is just a cool country. I love going there.
Audrey's never been. We're planning on going for the first time as a couple early in the
New Year right? We're probably going to take a slow boat from Chiang Mai all the way to
Luang Prabang and so I can't wait to go back. Okay for me I'd say my coolest looking stamp
is the one I recently got in Jordan. So the reason I like this one is because it actually
has a real stamp. Like what you would put on a postcard. Yep. Um, and then they put
like a plastic sticker over top, so I've never seen anything like that before. I thought
it was pretty cool and I also really had a fun time in Jordan visiting Wadi Rum and Petra.
Jordan is amazing. That's a country I definitely have to go back to someday.
Okay, fourth question is what was your most difficult stamp to obtain? Alright, my most
difficult stamp by far was my Bangladesh Visa. Now the actual process to get the Visa in
Kolkata, India wasn't too arduous. It took, I don't know, four or five days. I had to
go to the consulate, I had to pay a fee and all of that. Now that's not the hardest part.
The most tricky part was actually getting into country. I was on the most insane bus
ride of my life. I've done a lot of crazy trips over the years. I've been to Bolivia,
I've been near the Death Road. I've traveled through India. But this road from Kolkata
to Dhaka is the worst ever. There are just so much crazy stuff going on. There is so
many accidents. There is carnage on the side of the roads. Transport flipped over. All
kinds of things. It's just one of those rides where I just felt lucky to have survived it.
And it was insane but I love the country of Bangladesh - some of the nicest, friendliest
and most genuine people you can ever meet and I forgot to show my Bangladesh one. Here
it is. So my most difficult stamp to obtain I would
say was going to China. So this is my Chinese Visa. So we actually got this together when
we were in Hong Kong. But it was just a very long process. We had to collect a lot of paperwork,
prove that we had transportation in the country, where we were going to stay and it was just
a lot of waiting and hoping and we got it in the end.
Okay, and the last question is what is your most meaningful stamp? My most meaningful
stamp I'm going with Turkey. And Turkey is one of those countries I had wanted to visit
for years. In fact, if someone had of asked me before I started traveling which country
did I most want to visit I would have suggested Turkey. And so it took me almost 10 years
to get there and I finally arrived and it was one of those countries that actually did
live up to my expectations. I had a wonderful time in Istanbul. It's probably my new favorite
city and it is somewhere that can see myself being based someday. And your Mom came to
visit. Yeah, my Mom visited too. So that's also special. Okay, for me I would say my
most meaningful stamp in this new passport that is only three months old maybe the one
from Thailand because I had always wanted to live in Thailand and I thought it sounded
so exotic but I didn't think that would ever happen. So coming back to Thailand for the
second time to spend a few months here that's pretty special.
So once again this was a fun game called passport tag where you talk about your passport and
Audrey is going to read off the five questions. We'd love to know what countries fit in for
each of those questions. So if you want to take part. The first question is what is your
most recent stamp? Number two what was your first stamp in your current passport. Number
three, coolest looking stamp. Four, most meaningful stamp. And five most difficult to get? So
in the comments section please put the countries for those five questions. We're really curious,
we want to know about you!
