Hello, I am Dmitry Pobedinskiiy and I'm happy
to welcome you to the channel QWERTY
If we consider the average lifetime of a person to be 70
years,
then 23 of them are spent on sleeping.
Of these, eight years we have dreams.
Just imagine, each of us has
a free eight year subscription
to the wonderful world of dreams and fantasies.
And of course, we are usually only
spectators in those performances.
But you might agree, it would be nice to be aware of
your dreams and to control them, just like in
"Inception" with DiCaprio starring in the leading part.
One can fly in the clouds, build fantastic
cities
or even win an Oscar. Science has already
proven the possibility of being conscious in sleep.
In the experiments, people gave
certain signals with their eyes closed,
while all devices indicated that
those people were sleeping.
So, lucid dreaming has ceased to be a myth long time ago.
The science that studies dreams
is called oneirology.
Let's quickly go over the theory.
During sleep,
the body goes through several stages, which
are cyclically repeated
one after another.
Simply speaking, one cycle
consists of the phase of slow-wave sleep and the phase of
rapid eye movement sleep (REM sleep).
During a night, 4 or 5 of such cycles are repeated on average.
In the slow-wave sleep,
the brain activity is minimal,
the organism
is restored,
minor repair of internal organs and tissues
is done, and spent energy
is replenished. This phase occupies the larger part
of the night, up to 80%
of the total sleep time. But in
the time of REM sleep,
the brain activity is extremely high and
similar to the waking state,
as if a person is fully conscious.
It is believed that in this phase
information accumulated during the day
is processed and exchanged
between consciousness and
subconsciousness. Dreams occur
during both phases,
but the most vivid and emotional ones,
during the REM sleep.
So, to become aware of them
is best in these moments, because
consciousness works and dreams are filled
with vivid images and
feelings.
it should be noted that from cycle to cycle
the duration of REM sleep phases
increases, while the depth of the sleep
decreases.
So that it is better to realize one's dreams
by the morning.
But how to do this? The very first difficulty
is to understand that this a dream
rather than reality.
For this, you need to develop a habit
of making checks for the reality. They can
be completely different. Objects in dreams
may change strangely.
You can read a headline in a newspaper,
but when you look at it a second time,
It will be different.
You can cast a glance at your watch twice, and
you will see that the time has changed
just dramatically.
The same is with personal belongings.
You may have an iPhone,
but when you take the phone a second time,
it may appear to be an Alcatel
or, God forbid, BBK.
There are also other signs.
For example, if you turn on the light while sleeping,
the effect may be strange.
The light is on, but it is still dark.
In a dream, distant monotonous
travels are done
instantly, they are skipped.
For instance, you simply
will not remember a long, boring trip
from Saransk to Tobolsk (small Russian towns).
If in real life, you will develop a habit
to pay attention to clocks/watches, texts
time flow and illumination, it will be
transferred into
your dreams.
Of course, in reality you will see
nothing unusual.
but in your dreams,
something strange will happen
to all those things. And this will be
a signal that you are
sleeping.
Try this right now.
Maybe you are sleeping
No, I am not sleeping. Specialists in
lucid dreams recommend to keep
a diary of dreams.
From time to time,
some elements and scenes
can be repeated, and if you remember them
and notice them in your dream, you'll know immediately
that you are sleeping. And the second
is focusing of attention.
For example, it happened that I was
aware of
being sleeping,
but as soon as I tried to do something
consciously,
the images became blurred, and I woke up immediately.
It appears that here
training is also needed because excessive
excitement caused
by recognizing of sleep stirs up the activity
of the brain, and this wakes you up.
Here focusing of attention
on a particular object can help,
even on your hands,
just to keep sleeping.
And only then you can gradually
to move your look
at everything else,
returning to the initial object
People invented
different things
to simplify achievement
of lucid dreams: yoga, meditation,
psychotropic drugs.
There are even technical means
for achieving this.
They all look like a mask on eyes
and are based on
that in the REM sleep eyes make
rapid movements under the shut eyelids.
A special sensor
detects these moments and turns on
a soft lighting
and a sound signal.
These stimulants can intrude into
a dream,
and then a sleeping person will see
flashing headlights
or the eyes of an interlocutor, strange changes
of illumination and strange sounds.
All this will help him to understand that he
is in a dream
and to take it under control.
It's worth noting that the technique of lucid dreams
is still poorly understood by modern science,
but a scientist working in this
field says that anyone can fly to Mount Everest,
or meet Marylin Monroe,
or become a beaver and gnaw a whole forest,
or just eat clouds
in his or her lucid dreams,
though people have different
predisposition to this.
But still you could try. Who knows,
maybe you'll succeed right in the first attempt.
But that's not all. As you remember,
We carried out a competition to find new authors.
I am pleased to present to you
the winner of this competition,
Artur Sharifov.
Now, together with him, we are preparing the first issue
on math, the name
of which we have yet to come up with.
For now, I congratulate you, Artur.
You can say a few words and start
gaining fans right now.
First I want to express my sincere
gratitude for the support that
given to me
during the competition. And, since you have
liked the theme of my video for the competition,
"Why it is not allowed to divide by zero", we
decided that my videos will be devoted
to interesting mathematical facts, different mathematical
paradoxes and
to how certain mathematical
processes
may occur and, oddly enough,
not to occur in the real world.
Now the most enjoyable part – awarding
the winner.
As promised, we give Artur
a video camera,
a microphone,
a tripod,
and a piece of green background.
The latter is invisible to the camera, but it does exist.
I'm sure that with all these, Artur's videos
will be interesting not only in their content
but also visually.
While we prepare with him the first pilot issue,
do not forget to leave variants
of the title for the new video
in your comments.
Put "likes" and subscribe
to our channel so that not to miss new
videos. And thanks for watching.
