>> ANCHOR: Classes have resumed are RIT and so have the construction projects.
RITs new global village is a retail and housing complex which resembles the streets of Europe.
The $54-million dollar project is expected to be completed by next fall.
RIT is also developing a new academic building, called Institute Hall. College officials say
the campus needs more amenities because the student population continues to grow.
>> JIM YARRINGTON: We've spent about a third of a billion dollars in the past ten years
on campus improvements, and a fair chunk of that has gone into quadrangles, pathways,
bikeways, amenities, if you will, that really are kind of the urbanistic glue that pulls
the whole thing together.
>> ANCHOR: Institute Hall is expected to open in the spring of 2012. Exciting things happening
out there at RIT.
