For budget travelers I would recommend it I think. Definitely good value for the dollar. Nothing fancy, really fancy about the resort but it has everything you need. The beach was of a golden brown colour. The natural reef sort of kept the waters calm. So it is a good stretch of beach, good for walking. It’s sort of in a cove. There are two pools. One was, I found was very unique. There was a main pool, a waterfall and then sort of like another little activities area which I found was very unique just because of the split in the pool so you could be at the pool bar up top and then just go down in the other game, the activities pool there just down below. And then they had another pool area which was a little further off and it was more of a relax pool. I also like the fact that there were quite a few animals on the property. There was flamingos, there was ducks, there was iguanas, so I found that quite unique also. Had definitely a nice tropical feel to the resort. The standard rooms were very basic, clean, two double beds, there was a mini bar. Then also did see the honeymoon suite and amazing, high rise ceiling, all finished up in wood. Restaurants at the Barcelo Capella are of a smaller size so it’s more of a cozy feeling I guess you could say. Service was excellent. There are three à la carte restaurants. I do remember the Dominican one quite well as it was quite unique sampling these different kinds of food was a greatest experience. We did, I did also try the French one and it was excellent. The buffets offer a variety of food which is also great. They had entertainment every night. They do a weekly rotation of the shows. It was typical Dominican entertainment, good variety and the performers are always very dedicated. I think it is great value for the dollar, the service you will get, you won't get that at any other resorts at that same price I find. You get a great beach, the water is calm, you’ll feel safe, you are close to Santo Domingo so you can always go and do some city tours, shopping which is also great. If you are looking to relax this is the resort for you.
