Earthquakes hit Solomon Islands, Formosa (Taiwan), and India. On Friday evening, July 2 a magnitude-5.1
temblor rattled the Solomon Islands, with an epicenter 35 kilometers southeast of Auki.
Also that night, a quake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale rumbled India’s Andaman
Islands when it struck in the India Ocean 165 kilometers southwest of Port Blair. The
following day, southern Formosa was shaken by a 5.1-magnitude temblor located in Pingtung
City. Fortunately, none of the events caused any major damage or injuries.
We are grateful for the welfare of those in the quake-jolted regions as we also pray that
such unsettling disturbances subside through humanity’s striving for more considerate
stewardship of our Earthly home.
