Role Play
I’m Lamin and I come from The Gambia.
I’m 18.
I was 12 when my father died.
I was left alone with my mother and little brother.
I’m Marco. I was born in Erba.
I’m 23 years old. I like to play football and I’m listening to rock music.
My name is Mohamed and I’m Iraqi.
I come from a very rich country – even culturally rich.
I have a beautiful family. I have eight siblings.
I’m Bébé. I was born and raised in Hungary
beloved and in happiness.
My younger brother is 23
he has had cancer.
but today he’s all right.
My name is Mamadounak.
I was born in Senegal.
I’m 22 years old.
My mother is Gambian, my father is Senegalese.
I have a little brother.
I was ten when my father died.
I left school to help my mother.
My name is Michael
I’m 26 years old.
I’m Italian-Canadian
My mother is Canadian,
my father is Italian.
I have a sister.
I was born in Catanzaro.
I was six when we moved to Canada.
I was twelve when my parents divorced.
I arrived in Italy a year ago
after a long journey on one of those boats.
Here in Italy I learnt how to make pizza, and I also play football here in a local team.
But… I have no dreams.
I’m studying agronomics in Reggio Calabria.
My dream is to start my own company.
I’ve been living in Florence, there I learnt Italian.
In the last years I was traveling for fun all around Europe.
I don’t want to give birth but I’d like to adopt them.
I studied city planning at the university.
I travelled and lived in Australia
South-America
and Europe searching myself.
I moved back to Italy two years ago.
I’m an English teacher.
I visited 11 countries all around Europe
because…
…I couldn’t stay home. I’m on the run.
I saved a life and for this reason mine is in danger.
I have been in Italy for a year seven months and twenty days.
I had to swim a bit from Turkey to Greece. Just a bit, only two hours. I saw…
I saw women and children die.
Five children and three women.
At age 14 I left Senegal
hoping for a better life and to help my mother.
I went to Malí where I worked as a car mechanic, for five months.
but I wanted to go to Europe.
I went to Niger where I worked for 4 months
for pay the journey across the desert, to Libya.
In Libya I was working for the price of being on the boat –
the journey towards Europe, Italy.
In Italy I arrived to Sicily
where I spent four months in a camp.
With many people. It was very big.
Then I was sent to Reggio Calabria
where I spent a year and four months in a center.
I didn’t really like Reggio.
I faced a lot of racism.
Then I was sent to Soverato.
I stayed in Soverato for eight months.
Then Girifalco, now I live there.
I’ve been here for four months, I like it here.
I work as a stonemason and I also play in the local football team,
I like it a lot.
what if my life would be your life?

This video was realized during the Erasmus+ project "M.U.S.E." youth exchange
promoted by the Association Connecting Europe
"M.U.S.E." involved 24 young people from 3 European Countries and other guests from the Sprar center "L'approdo".
The idea to tell our story and to exchange it with the one of other people only for one day was born during the first workshop of the project.
