I'm going to show you a short training session with one of our Hearing Dogs in training
I'm going to show you the cooker timer which is a device we train many of our Hearing Dogs to respond to
We are going to demonstrate to you how it is that we get our dogs to touch, tell about the sound
and then also to lead to that sound, using treats, fuss or reward of some sort such as a game
...so the cooker timer is now going off and as you can see, Selena has actually lured
the dog into position and is rewarding with treats, a number of treats
she then asks 'what is it' with a hand gesture
the dog leads to that sound and Selena can then reward again at source with some treats
so that the dog knows it has carried out the correct action
We are now going to show you how it is we train our dogs to respond to danger sounds such as the smoke alarm
the smoke alarm is going off and as you can see, Selena has lured again the dog into position of the alert
and is rewarding with treats. When asking 'what is it' the dog this time drops flat onto the floor
and again Selena is rewarding that behaviour with treats
