Hi, welcome to Caseking TV. Today with a new case from NZXT, Phantom 820.
Here we have the gunmetal version.
Many might know the original Phantom, because of the extravagant design many of you liked.
No regular case with a bit of edged, bent shapes and so on.
The Phantom 820 big tower case is the new successor. What you see at first glance is the mesh and the window.
The case has the same design elements on all other sides. Air vents, have not only a mesh window, but a clear viewing window also.
On the top, behind this little rubber you find the USB ports, four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0
On the right side you find the audio jacks and the fan control.
Something special here too, different zones with plus and minus buttons for easy control,
and LED´s brightness depending on fan speed.
Behind the front you find four 5,25" slots and some buttons.
What are these buttons for ? Of course you need power and reset buttons, but
a Jog dial and a switch for the LEDs.
There are led stripes on both sides and the LEDs in the back can be controlled.
If you spin the jog dial you can change the colour of all LEDs.
Let´s take a look inside. First the ventilation options.
In the side panel and the front we find 200 mm fans, which you can dismount, but not switch to any other size.
In the top another 200 mm fan, which you can change to two 140 mm or three 120 mm fans.
In the back you find an also included 140 mm fan, which could be changed to a 120 mm fan.
In the floor you can install another two 120 mm or 140 mm fans.
This gives you an idea of what kind of watercooling you could install.
In the floor an 240 or 280 and in the top up to a 280 or 360 radiator would be possible.
For the lower you would need to dismount the HDD cages though.
A special feature of the rear fan is to change the mounting height of this fan.
Therefore you have got a small rail system, allowing for adjustments If the fan is too close to the radiator,
you can just slide it down a bit. With this you can gain space for a 6cm radiator plus fans.
Of course you find tube openings in the back. 4 overall.
Also the nice locking mechanism of NZXT is on this case. Push down the screw and open.
The accesory box of NZXT is very nice. Prepared like a little toolbox to keep all screws in place.
Which mainboards can you mount ? Well starting with Micro ATX up to E-ATX and XL-ATX all is possible.
ATX of course, so you are free to choose the size you want to use.
A big cutout for the CPU backplate and a lot of options for cable management.
As in Phantom 410 you find this extra fan option in the inside of the case.
A 120 or 140 mm fan is installable. With this thumbscrew you can change the fan position.
You can point it directly to the CPU cooler so it gets the fresh air from the front.
In these cages we have the option to mount 3,5" or 2,5 " drives.
Two in this one, easy to install. Of course toolless.
Also the 5,25" drives can be mounted toolless.
Overall 6 HDD´s can be installed. Four more in this cage, accesible from the right side.
Positioning the power supply at the bottom of the case helps get fresh air in or pulling hot air out.
In addition you find air filters on all intake fans. Easy to remove with a simple click.
The same you find in the front.
Another design change made can be found on the feet of the case.
Lifted a little bit for better fresh air supply.
My favourite feature of the Switch tower has become a feature here.
The LEDs for the PCI slots. If you need to attch a cable in the dark you will love this feature.
Push the button in the front and attach the audio jack e.g.
Available in white, matte black and gunmetal. The black looks really nice.
I really love all these little features, the PCI LEDs, the little box, good stable cages,
positionable fans, the LED stripes on the sides. Things other companies don´t offer.
I hope you will also like the details and we will see you again next time on Caseking TV.
