If this end up on camera, we're ***.
ATZENKALLE THE TAPE
Top of the day to you. My name is Atzenkalle.
ATZENKALLE IS A CROWD FAVOURITE
AND MULTIPLE CHAMPION
AT RAP ON WEDNESDAY.
You might know me from this location.
This is the good old Calabash Club.
Rap on Wednesday was here in its first
and second season. Let's just go inside.
Chef loves you.
He used to give me those stickers, too.
It was in 2010. I happened to hear of it
through my mate Matze from meinrap.de.
It was very small. There were more people
on stage than in front of it.
We were worried it wouldn't pay off
and that it would die,
but then we happily went back
'cause we once saw Liquit Walker in the crowd.
Second time round he rapped on stage.
That was one of the highlights.
My mates used to encourage me. They said,
why don't you do it so we can have a laugh.
So my initial goal was to get on stage once
and to leave a positive impression
with one or two people.
At first, I didn't quite succeed,
but records of that somehow disappeared...
People on the train... it's like cinema.
In Berlin, it's beautiful.
Why do I rap? I wonder myself sometimes.
It's just a very good way to stay mentally fit
and develop your own personality.
To me it's always important
to give a personal touch or your personal charm
to whatever stories you tell.
Backstage is very relaxed.
As soon as the battle is over,
you walk overto the other guy and say
"You ***! That one line..." and so on.
I think it's important to see this as a sport.
Today you were better or I was better.
It largely depends on your form of the day.
There are days when you have good ideas
and on some days everything sucks
even if you had good ideas before.
Everything that's said on stage
is not meant that way.
I'm always happy when I find a rhyme.
When I was little, I liked rhyming.
I also used to listen to songs with German lyrics.
At some point you try your hand at it, too.
At first, you're totally whack,
and that's another reason to rap.
Why do I rap? So I get better at rapping.
It's a vicious cycle. You can never be perfect.
Hello. Welcome to Berlin, guys.
They don't look thrilled.
What's a real Berliner for you?
For me that's somebody who
was born in Berlin and grew up here.
I'm afraid I was just born in Berlin.
I grew up in the suburbs,
so I'm not a totally genuine Berliner.
Berliners are rude and inconsiderate,
gruff and self-opinionated.
Berliners turn rude quickly
if you don't get to the point.
A good Berliner can hate everything.
I don't understand a word
but I like joining tourist groups
because you learn a lot about the city.
What's with the tape around your neck?
Yes, that's the Golden Atzenkalle tape.
At some point it will be released.
Just put a few songs on tape.
I'm afraid I'm so young
I missed those good old days.
I'd also like to sell some CDs on the quiet.
Out of your car's trunk. Old school.
Just repeat the old school.
As if you had to repeat the year.
Do I look good?
So, guys, that was my portrait.
I hope you liked it. Maybe if you're cool,
you could write some seriously good punchlines
in the comments box under this video.
I'll personally reply to the best one
and then we can go for a beer or something.
I keep my promises. I will actually do it.
So come up with some dope punchlines
and I'll have a beer with you
so we can have a chat about those punchlines.
Subscribe to the eNtR Berlin channel!
They do fantastic portraits of fantastic artists.
Don't miss that, you'll learn clever stuff.
