Sage Research Methods Online - An introduction

SAGE Research Methods Online is really going to be THE best place to go for research methods material. Essentially it brings it all together in one place and I think that’s going to be really exciting and extremely useful for a whole wide range of people. SRMO is an online research tool that will allow academic researchers and students to search for methods across the quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods and explore a range of literature from reference book to journal and video material. I think that SAGE is more committed to research methods than any other field because it spans all of those fields. Research methods has been the spine of SAGE’s success in some ways. Sara Miller McCune, founder of the company, knew that to pursue her mission of taking the dissemination of useable knowledge out into the community required the dissemination of the way you do research, not only the content of the research that you do, that Sara McCune herself was honoured by the American Evaluation Association for contribution to the discipline by being given a medal. The only publisher ever to be so honoured. That’s just one indication, really, of how massively important methods is to SAGE well I believe how important SAGE is to methods too. Our goal when we began discussing the concept of SAGE Research Methods Online literally was to bring decades of publishing the research methods, decades of experience, decades of conversations with authors and scholars and students, and to try and bring together in a single database that entire experience. It’s not just about psychologists or sociologists or political scientists, everybody does research, and in fact anybody who does research will hopefully find a huge amount of value in the content that SRMO has and therefore should, I hope, be as excited as I am.
