Today we will prepare some bread toasts.
Bread toasts, also known as torrijas, is a very simple dessert to make
and the ingredients, we can find them at any time in our kitchens.
The first thing we do is to prepare the milk. Pour the milk into a pot
to which add a cinnamon stick, a piece of lemon peel and a dash of orange.
Heat the milk so that you gain the flavor of other ingredients.
Then let it cool.
We put the milk in a fountain in which later we`ll put the bread
that will absorb the milk.
Then we take the loaf of bread and we cut slices about two inches wide.
Place them in the milk that we separated before and let stand about an hour,
so they’ll take the taste of the flavored milk and get soft.
Now let's take the cinnamon and sugar in equal parts
joint together to batter the toasts later.
We take a bowl in which we will beat an egg.
When well blended, add a little milk and continue beating until everything comes together well.
Time to fry the toasts, add oil to the skillet and wait until heated through.
Fried bread in egg mixture and put them to fry.
It is better to get a few every time because we must be careful to turn them over
using a fork and a trowel so as not to break or crumble.
Remove them when they are browned and put to drain on paper towels.
Before putting them in the plate, you can batter and sprinkle with sugar mixture and cinnamon.
Other ways of preparing them are watering them with syrup, honey or a shot of brandy.
