Today, we will prepare Moong Dal Badi.
Moong Dal Badi are easily available in market.
But, you can also prepare these easily at home if you want to.
Let us see what all do we require to prepare the Moong Dal Badi.
Moong Dal (washed and soaked for 4 hours) - 4 hours.
We can also prepare the Badis with split Moong Lentils with skin.
We’ll have to soak the lentils (Moong Dal) first and then wash the
lentils thoroughly, if we are preparing the Badis of Lentils with skin.
Then only the Dal will be ready to prepare the Moong Dal Badis.
Oil - 2 tsp.
Heeng (asafoetida) - 1 pinch.
The Dal is ready to prepare the Badis and we will grind it now.
Put the Dal in the mixer.
Grind the Dal without water.
Add 1 to 2 tbsp water if required.
Make a coarse paste of Moong Dal.
Add 1 tsp water in Heeng and dissolve Heeng in water.
Mix it in the paste.
Beat the paste for 4 to 5 minutes.
Beat it till the time lumps disappear.
The paste has turned fluffy and now we will make chunks from it.
Apply oil on the plates on which we will keep the Badis.
If the quantity of the paste is more, then take a plastic sheet and apply oil on it to spread the Badis.
Pick a small amount of paste as we take while making Pakoras and drop
it with the help of your thumb in small quantity at equal distance.
These Badis can be prepared in any size which you want.
The bigger Badis take time to dry up and you will have to crush them while preparing them.
The Badis are ready now and we will put them in Sun now.
The Badis dried up in Sun for 1 day can be turned and then we can dry them up for one more day.
These should be prepared when the heat of Sun is at its peak like in May and June.
Let’s keep the Badis in Sun.
The Moong Dal Badis have dried up and are now ready.
We can store them in a container.
These Badis can be used whenever we want to prepare the curry.
These Badis if properly dried up can be used for 6 months or for 1 year.
