So the concept behind Urban Eden is being able to provide a home within
this fabric of the city that allows you to have a respite and your own natural place
within the city. To help our home become more marketable,
we chose to incorporate a large bathroom. In doing so, we decided to combine the hallway
and bathroom spaces but still provide for personal privacy through sliding doors on
each end of the bathroom that can close it off from the bedroom and the kitchen. Leaving
the bathroom, you'll also notice that the hallway is paneled in
bamboo. This helps to reinforce the concept of our wet core and it's continued into the
bedroom space. We chose to go with the flooring that would be durable and could also be used
inside and out. Also the fabric that is on the furniture in the house is GREENGUARD certified
which means that it has a low VOC emission content. I think one of the main things to
take away from Urban Eden is that you can meet net-zero goals. You can produce your
own energy. You can live in the city. And while doing all these things, you can do it
in an aesthetically pleasing home that allows you to integrate with your natural place inside
of the city.
