Shh! OH hello. And welcome once again to shh! Library Secrets. Shh! Library Secrets. I am
your host, Prescott Oliver. This weeks episode takes us to Petoskey District Library. In
a quaint, small town in beautiful Petoskey, Michigan. A little town with BIG library secrets.
{Music} Shh! Another very little known secret is that the library shares information with
other libraries, locally and statewide. It's information not just limited to books. There
are CDs, magazines, DVDs available 24 hours a day via system known as MelCat. What is
MelCat, do you say? It's not the kind of cat that needs it's shots! Ha ha ha! MelCat is
Michigan's Electronic Library Catalog. It is your source for information available 24
hours a day! How much does it cost? And of course I've heard the questions a thousand
times: How much does that cost, Prescott, HOW MUCH? Well, I can tell you it's FREEEEEE.
{Music} How long will it take to get here? Well, local media could be just a couple days;
Statewide media would be five to seven. You'll find yourself reading Dickens in no time!
Thanks, MelCat! And while you're there, take a look around. Mel Databases provide access
to millions of articles, ebooks, practice tests and MORE! With just a click away the
world is literally at your fingertips. FINGERTIPS! Tune in next week for more SHH! Library Secrets
when we talk about how to get a library card, no credit check required!
