LEIGH LASSITER-COUNTS: Today is a new event at Hendrix. We got this idea from doing some travels to
other liberal arts colleges to see how they
promoted Career Services with their students. Intern Insight came about by
wanting to have an opportunity for students to talk to other students
about their internship opportunities.
ADELIA SHIFFRAW: So I joined the HP Cloud team back in early November. Late October/early November.
I came into HP with no
business background at all. I'm an English major so this has been a huge
experience for me just kind of
getting a chance to see what the corporate environment is like, working
with cloud which is so new and big in the tech world has been really neat to kind of
be there from the beginning and see what it's like growing with it.
PHILIP GREEN: So I was working at the Toltec Mountain Research Station for the Arkansas
Archeological Survey.
Starting off was just learning all those different sorts of artifacts
that they have there, how to classify them. We did some artifact analysis, so we learned a lot of
really quick thinking
and analytical thinking as well on the artifacts.
LEIGH: So we wanted it to be a real low-key, casual opportunity for students to see
not only how our students do internships and where they do internships, but also just
get some feedback from their peers.
ABIGAIL GARCIA-LUCAS: At THV-11, they're really good with their interns and working with them and helping them
learn how to write for the news and
learning about story structure and editing. Yeah, it's just really good hands-on experience.
LEIGH: We hoped that we would have some students come and we did so it's been really exciting
to see the energy and see the students get behind it both as vote as presenters, as former interns,
and students coming to talk to them about their internships.
