Hello, I'm Sifu Mallon, with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center. This is my assistant Melissa,
and this is Kung Fu for health. We're going to be working a leg strengthening exercise
called drop to drop. To perform this you're going to go ahead, and bring your feet to
about the base of a horse stance. I'm going to go ahead, and perform this several times
at normal speed, and then I'll have Melissa go through it, and I'll show some of the finer
points. To start, you begin from a horse position. Your arms cross in front of you. You can either
place your hands this way, or keep them in fists. You're going to look to your right;
you're going to turn your left foot out forty-five. You're going to squat on one leg, the other
leg straightening out; looking to the other side, same thing. I'm going to have Melissa
step forward, and perform this a few times, so I can point out some of the finer things.
So she starts from a square horse position. Her back is straight; her arms are crossed.
She's going to go ahead, and turn out her left foot, and she's going to bring her weight
to the left side; straightening the right leg, looking this way. This knee, you want
to make sure it straightens all the way out, locking. Hold for just a few moments; push
to the other side. You'll see the foot turns out, this foot turns in; the leg straightens;
good. Then pushing to the other side one more time Melissa; foot down; you want to make
sure that your toes aren't lifting here, and the heel's not lifting, but pushing down;
very good job, Melissa. This is called drop to drop, Kung Fu for health.
