Hi, this is Miranda Thacker with your KYTC Minute.
One outcome of Governor Beshear's Smart Government Initiative has been the consolidation of state
government printing services. This service consolidation helps reduce government operating
expenses -- and saves taxpayer money. Under the initiative, the Transportation Cabinet's
Division of Design and Print Services now provides a variety of creative options for
Kentucky state government. Division Director Vicki Brown explains.
Voice of Vicki Brown: We already had the space so we didn't have to rent that. We already
had quite a bit of equipment and we already had the people -- so we're doing all of state
printing with KCI, which is Kentucky Correctional Industries. What we can't do, they can. But
stationary, envelopes, business cards, brochures, posters -- we've gotten into laser engraving
-- we can do awards and plaques and things like that. We can do all of the building signage.
Anything they have in their mind we can create. State agencies can learn more about available
