'When I d.i.e you'll love me': Rapper Lil Peep .... Lil Peep, real name Gustav Åhr, a promising 21-year-old rapper, died from a reported drug overdose on Wednesday evening. In an eerie twist, just hours before his death he shared an image on stage with a caption reading: When I die youll love me while also posting a shot in which he seemed to be placing two pills on his tongue. The New York-born artists former lover Bella Thorne appeared heartbroken as she posted an emotional Instagram story as she mourned his sudden passing while his manager wrote: I’ve been expecting this call for a year. Mother f***. In a short series of videos, Bella said: To anybody out there who is a Lil Peep fan you guys know how talented he was. How good he was. Well, he was even more f**king great as a person. According to UPROXX and various news sites, those close to the rapper believe he died from a drug overdose hours before he was due to perform a show in Arizona. Tributes flooded in, including one from rapper Post Malone, who penned on Twitter: In the short time that i knew you, you were a great friend to me and a great person. your music changed the world and it’ll never be the same. i love you bud. forever. Rocker Pete Wentz also took to the microblogging site to share a snap of the musician holding up a picture of his image: Lil Peep forever. Everyone will miss you man. Lil Peep was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Long Island by his mother Liza after his father left the family in his youth. After a stint at Long Beach High School he soon dropped out and finished his schooling at home with his first grade teacher mum. In the interview, when asked about when he last cried, he said: I cry a lot, I get stressed out, I get overwhelmed. There’s no point in getting a bunch of attention and you know, wasting it. You got to do something important with the attention you get. Speaking to Pitchfork earlier this year he revealed he is not medicated for depression and insisted he does not like to pay for drugs but will take any that comes his way. He said: I’m not (medicated for depression). Everyone always begged me to, but I don’t want to do it. I just like smoking weed and whatever other drug comes my way. Most people usually have to set out to find drugs. I don’t like to pay for it. I just like to get it for free.
