Well, its one of the remarkable and exciting new areas of scientific exploration into the
human heart. And we continue here, at the Montefiore Einstein Heart Center, to explore
that as a possibility --having performed groundbreaking investigative research in the laboratory to
demonstrate that within each of us, there reside stem cells inside of our hearts, that
can be harvested, cultured, and multiplied millions of times, for the potential to be
re-injected into our hearts at a time of injury or heart failure. We are exploring the possibility
of human clinical trials with these stem cells, and I fully anticipate within the next several
years to be seeing these cells used to improve patients health, and hopefully avoid heart
transplants or mechanical hearts.
