It was a chance for us to get together
with those that have the same base experience
and you never know who you're going to run into
and so it's always kind of fun.
The university has an unsually high number
of highly successful alumni who are making
a big-time impact around the country and
around the world so this is one good way
of showcasing that and in a sense then
you're marketing the university but
it's also a great educational outreach service
to alumni because the Big Thinkers series rotates
successful alumns from various career sectors
so that alumns who are interested in that sector
or who are pursuing their own careers
in that sector can come and really get the wisdom
of the alumni speaker and meet the speaker
and talk with him or her.
I don't know anybody who more personifies
our brand theme "Think Big. We do."
because *** Harrington is certainly one of the
biggest thinkers that I've ever known.
"So over my history, over my eleven year history
as CEO I basically baught and sold
45 billion dollars worth of assets,
I actually added that up beforehand.
It's actually kind of frightening to see it."
I want to support URI, I really like what
they're doing and my son is in the business program
and I think this is tremendous.
I love their "Think Big" attitude and
I'm here to support that and learn.
I always say to people that I thought going to URI
was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
There's no doubt they'll prepare me,
not only for my job but for life in general.
I've been vice president at URI for eighteen years
and people ask me what's the best part of the job
and I say the people, I mean I love our alumni.
They're a lot of fun, they're good people,
they're successful people, they're contributing people
and it's just great to be out amongst them.
