Hi, it's Brooke Bailey. In this video I'll share with you 3 easy yoga
tools that will help you go from being bummed to bright.
So here we go...Number 1 Diaphragmatic Breathing: The diaphragm is
a sheet of muscle that lies at the bottom of the ribcage.
When you engage your diaphragm as you breathe - it actually turns on the part of your nervous
system that's responsible for relaxation. And aren't we all a little happier when we're
relaxed?
So let's give it a try now, place your hands between your lower ribs and your navel with
your fingers touching. Now inhale deeply into the bottom of your
lungs and notice your fingers seperating. As you exhale relax your diaphragm and notice
your fingers come back together again. That's it! You can use this breathe throughout
your day to relax and recenter.
Number 2 Meditation - Research has proven that meditation strengthens your immune system,
reduces stress related cortisol, and you guessed it - meditation makes your happier!
Start a mediation practice by simply focusing on your breath for as little as 5 minutes
a day. You can even use the diaphragmatic breath
you just practiced.
Number 3 Community Connection - Community is called "sangha" in Sanskrit, the ancient
language of the yoga philosophy. If you don't have friends or family who live
close by consider getting to know people in your local yoga community. Create your own
sangha by surrounding yourself with people who care about you and help you feel uplifted.
Practice these 3 easy yoga tools consistently and you'll experience more happiness right
away!
