Hi, I am Joe Papp. I am a freshman Chemical Engineering major from Nicholasville, Kentucky.
I'm a part of the Global Village Living Learning community. The global village is a living
learning community that is located in Smith Hall. What it does is it brings international
students and students from America together by matching them as roommates they also provide
events in ways to get to know about different cultures. Everybody in the Living Learning
Community have similar interests. Anytime I feel like hanging out with someone, I can
just walk out into the lobby or knock on someone's door and feel welcomed to hang out with them.
It's a great opportunity to learn more about different cultures, and to just hangout with
people from all around the world. It's kind of like study abroad here, at UK, but it also
provides those connections that when I do study abroad, I'll be able to know people
in those countries. Or if later in life I even visit those countries, I can always hit
up one of my friends from back in the dorm days and see if they want to hangout. It's
allowed me the opportunity to meet so many different people from so many different backgrounds.
That's one of my favorite parts about living on campus.
